Social media plays a significant role in the success of any company’s digital marketing efforts.
Despite of knowing this, many brands are not using this wonderful tool to its full potential.
However, it isn’t just the number of followers, likes and shares you have that will make your success.
Though those are still important, the credibility of a brand is distinguished by far more than just this.
In this day and age, social media requires a lot more effort and you really need to fully understand what it is your audience is looking for.
But what can you do to figure this out and really take full advantage of social media?
To help you along the way, I have compiled a list of 10 strategies that you need to implement as soon as possible, no matter how old or young your business is.
1. Create a Plan
Before you do anything, you need to come up with a plan.
You need to know exactly what it is you are going to do and exactly what you hope to achieve using social media.
Creating a plan will really help to guide your actions and will let you know if you are succeeding or failing.
I’m not going to be going into that here, but Click Here to read my article all about creating your social media plan!
2. Take Advantage of Chatbots
Chatbots are very popular these days and can be very beneficial.
If you haven’t heard of them, they are computer programs designed to simulate conversation with human users.
Knowing that, there really is no surprise that they are popular.
They are the one digital tool that can communicate with and resolve problems for your customers.
These make it so much easier for you as the social marketer.
Rather than having to answer all the questions and reply to all the comments that your users leave, you can just set something up to do that for you.
In addition to that, the chatbots communicate with the platforms that consumers now feel the most comfortable interacting through: social media.
There are many ways you can go about adding chatbots, but a platform that makes it very easy is Chattypeople.
This tool will allow you to create a chatbot that:
- Requires no coding knowledge to create.
- Can answer questions your customers ask.
- Is able to take orders directly from Facebook Messenger and comments.
- Connects with all major payment systems.
3. Make a Personalized Experience for Your Customers
Not only are chatbots a great way to automate certain tasks, if you implement them properly, your chatbot will allow you to create a more personalized experience for your customers.
To do this, instead of linking your advertisements directly to your landing pages, instead create ads that redirect your audience to a messenger window with your chatbot.
Linking your ads to your chatbot will:
- Make the customers see you as a friend rather than just someone who’s only goal is to sell to them.
- Improve your customer’s experience.
- Boost your sales.
- Create a fan base.
4. Create a More Efficient Content Marketing Strategy
Creating quality content consistently is key to your success online.
Content marketing has been a very important form of marketing for a relatively long period of time and it shows no sign of slowing down.
However, most brands are not syncing their high quality content with a consistent schedule, and their content is suffering because of it.
High quality SEO content paired with a schedule will help bring in good customers at the right time.
Besides your content’s ability to attract an organic audience, publishing at a consistent rate will allow your fan base to easily keep up with your latest posts.
Also, be sure to create a relevant hashtag strategy to bring in new fans.
5. Make Your Audience into a Community
Although followers are an important part of social marketing, they really aren’t the key to success on social media.
You need to show your followers that you are more than just a robot.
Integrate your personality through humor and emotions into your posts so your audience can relate to your brand.
By its name, you can clearly tell that social media is about being social
If your audience continues to see the same types of posts over and over again, they will become bored and lose interest which will, in turn, cause them to leave.
To make your communications more interactive be sure to:
- Ask your audience questions.
- Conduct polls and gather their opinions.
- Share some information that isn’t about your product/service.
- Like and share their posts so they can see that you enjoyed them.
- Ask them to like and share your posts.
6. Implement Imagery and Video
People respond more to imagery and video than they do to a page of text.
Use this type of media regularly so your social media page doesn’t look bland, as it would look if you shared no pictures or videos.
This is a really great way to really add some personality to your brand and will really set you apart from your competitors.
7. Set a Social Media Budget
Social media platforms are one of the most important forms of marketing.
Setting the right budget for your social media endeavors is key to your success.
Not only that, but if you leverage that budget with the right strategy, you will find this to be the most cost-effective way for you to reach your target audience.
8. Use Relevant Platforms
People create social profiles on every social media platform available with the goal of reaching as many people as possible.
Unfortunately, this approach will not allow you to reach your chosen target audience.
A better approach would be look at what platforms your audience is on and focus on those.
9. Run Multiple Channel Campaigns
To further engage your audience, run campaigns across all of your social media channels.
Note that these campaigns are ran by most companies today, so you will need to give yourself an edge that makes you stand out from the competition.
Add a emotional component to your campaigns so your audience can relate to your cause.
An efficient cross-channel social media campaign should:
- Link back to a particular landing page that will give your audience more information on your campaign.
- Have a unique and easy to remember name paired with relevant hashtags.
- Tell an engaging and interesting story.
10. Tell Your Story… Live
Yes, your content will tell the story of your brand as a whole, but why not also share with your audience what’s going on in real time.
Telling live stories can be great for:
- Showing your audience you are just a regular person.
- Creating shareable and memorable content.
- Inspiring your audience.
Facebook and Instagram, along with some others, have created their own live steaming features which really isn’t being used to its full potential by bigger brands, so now would be a great time to take advantage of it.
