Marketing is an extremely important part in growing a successful business.
I suppose you could just create tons and tons of value that no one appreciates because no one finds it, but I’m pretty sure that the better option would be for you to market your brand yourself to help your business grow.
It doesn’t matter how good your content is if nobody read it, right? Just because your content is amazing doesn’t mean that people will find it.
You have to take matters into your own hands and help get your business’s name out there yourself.
A little while back, I posted an article explaining the importance of brand recognition and why a logo will help your business greatly, then I explained how you can make your very own logo.
If you are interested in creating your very own logo for FREE, Click Here to read my article about it.
However, making and utilizing a logo won’t attract more visitors to your site, it will just make people trust you more and allow them to be able to distinguish you from the competition.
I’m not saying a logo won’t come in handy, I am actually saying the opposite. It can and will be very handy if you know how to use it properly.
Making your logo is only half the process, you have the marketing tool, but aren’t putting it to good use yet.
The next half of the process involves creating your very own business card that shows off your logo and advertises your business.
Design Your Business Card
Designing your very own business card may sound like a daunting task, but considering you have past design experience with creating your logo, you should be more than prepared.
To start, you first need to head over to Vistaprint.com, if you use the link I provided, you will be brought to their business cards page, and from there you need to hit get started.
You will then be asked to insert some basic information about your business and when you hit “See your information” you will be shown a whole bunch of different business card styles.
There are plenty to choose from, pick your favorite, and if you can’t find one you like, scroll down to the bottom and click “Start with your logo”.
Once you have picked a template, you will be given some options for how you want your card to look and feel, and once those are selected, you are brought to a page to begin designing.
The rest is pretty self explanatory, just insert your business information where it is asked for and see how you like the product.
If you don’t like it, you can always start over and try a new template. Once you have finished creating your amazing business card, the next step is printing.
Printing Your Cards
Now that your business card is made and is to your liking, it’s time to print them.
The way I am going to be explaining is purchase via Vistaprint. You may be thinking “Why would I pay them to print my cards if I can print them myself for free?”.
That’s a good question and my answer to that is that you can print them yourself if you want, but the material won’t be as good and it will take more time than it’s worth.
Let me explain, for free, you could print 500 of your business cards, but you have to buy a lot of paper and ink, not to mention that in order for your edges to look straight, you will have to be cutting for quite some time.
For $20, you can get a 500 pack of your business cards, all made of high quality paper, with no cutting involved with sharp corners and straight edges.
$20 isn’t even that much when you think about it. $20 divided by 500 cards gives each card a whopping value of $0.04 a piece.
And that is assuming that the cards aren’t on sale. At the time of writing this article, the cards are on sale and you can get 500 for $10, that’s $0.02 a card!
If I haven’t yet convinced you that it is worth it to pay for them to be printed for you, then go ahead and print them yourself, I wish you the best of luck.
If you decided you want to pay for them to be printed, all you have to is click next when you are done designing, select that you have reviewed and approved your design, and fill out your payment info.
Then they will be shipped and you will receive your business cards in a matter of days!
Hand Them Out!
When you receive your cards in the mail, take one out and have a look at how it came out!
Think about it, you have your own business card, how cool is that?
That is awesome, but they will serve you no purpose unless you hand them out and get them into people’s hands.
That involves going out into the world and handing them out yourself to as many people as possible. Here are some different strategies to try:
- Give some to friends and family and ask them to hand out some.
- Leave some in places around your city.
- Leave your card in an Uber, so the next person to ride will take a card.
- Leave a pile in a check out line, if someone is bored and has nothing better to do, they will grab one, that’s why they put magazines there.
- Never leave your house without them, you never know when an opportunity will strike.
- “Drop” some of your cards in an airport waiting area.
I want to quickly note that if you plan on carrying these around with you, they will most likely get bent and folded, which doesn’t look professional, so I would recommend you buy a business card holder.
There are tons of different ones out there, but my personal preference would be the MaxGear Professional Business Card Holder because of its durability, sleek look, and cheap price.
