Brand recognition is one of the most important parts of business. It is the extent to which the general public is able to identify a brand by its attributes, and is most successful when people can state the name of the brand without being exposed to the company’s name, but rather through visual or auditory signifiers that include its logo, slogans, or even jingles as seen in advertising.
Without looking at the following companies names, can you recognize them by their uses of brand recognition?
Of course you can! Even most really young children can recognize these, and for good reason. They are exposed to these logos and brands ever since they were really young, and they see them everywhere.
Even if your website isn’t as well-known as Pepsi, that’s ok, making a logo is very quick and easy to do and the benefits to having one are unbelievable.
The Benefits of Using a Logo
There are so many benefits to having a logo for your business. Some of these benefits are as follows:
1. Distinguishes you from the competition
This is key. It is what sets you apart from the floods of people in the same business as you. A good logo is a lot different from that of the competitors. For example; how many pizza places have you seen that feature an Italian mustached chef with a tall white hat, holding a large pizza?
If your business is pizza related, it probably wouldn’t be the best idea to use a figure with those traits, nearly all pizza businesses do that! Try something new that will set you apart from the competition. Don’t be afraid of being different. If it weren’t for people trying to do things differently, the luxuries we take for granted today would not exist.
2. Invites Newcomers
People are very visual learners, and are drawn to interesting designs and colors. The logo that marks your brand should be designed to attract the attention of your potential consumers, prompting them to check out your business.
3. Builds Brand Loyalty
If your logo is catchy and interesting, people are more likely to recognize it when they see it, remember their past experience with it, which will prompt them to further trust your business. Brand loyalty is a huge part of business and something that every business should encourage. A recognizable and familiar logo is a big part in building brand loyalty.
There are far more benefits to having a logo, but just those benefits should be enough to persuade someone that creating a logo is worth it. If there are more reasons that you find important as to why people would benefit from having a logo, leave them in the comment section below.
Design Your Very Own Logo!
Designing your very own logo may seem to be a daunting task, but it really isn’t. Most people think that their best choice is to hire someone to do it for them on Fiverr, but that really shouldn’t be the case. Anyone with a computer / mobile device can make a logo themselves, absolutely free, and make look exactly how they want it.
To begin working on your logo, you first need to install the software that will allow you to do so. The software that I use and will be explaining how to use is called Canva. Canva is a great tool to use because it is absolutely free, able to be used on any device and is very easy to use.
If you are on PC / Mac, just head over to Canva.com and create your logo there, but if you are on IOS / Android, it is available for download within their respective app stores, completely free.
Once in Canva, you will be asked to create an account. This is very quick and easy to do, and your email is perfectly safe in doing so. With your account created, you will have access to Canva and can now begin designing your logo.
First, you will see a search bar up top that allows you to search through a list of templates, and you need to enter the word “logo” and hit enter. It will then show you a huge list of logo templates to choose from, and you just click the one that you like the most.
With your template selected, you will be brought into an editor where you can replace the text with your business name and add other text you want to include. Along with that, you can add and adjust images to your liking, change your template, add more text boxes, and change your background color. The possibilities for your logo are endless.
If you feel stuck and need help with designing your logo, watch this more in-depth tutorial:
When I was designing my logo, I made multiple and picked the one I liked the most, and that is one I am currently using. Create multiple logos, test different ideas, see how you like them. Make a logo that makes you happy and captures the intent of your business perfectly.
When you have designed a logo and you love how it came out, you should now save it. On PC, hit “download”, and select the format that you want your logo to be in. On a mobile device, I would recommend you hit “share”, and send it to your computers email. From there you can view it, download it, and upload it to your WordPress site.
Add Your Logo to Your WordPress Site
With your logo all finished and done to your liking, it is now time to publish it to your WordPress site. This is very easy to do and won’t take long at all.
Start by heading over to WordPress and on the sidebar, hover over “Appearance” and select “Customize”. This will bring you to a page where you can customize nearly everything to do with how your website looks.
This may vary from theme to theme, but in my theme, Tora, which I highly recommend for any website, it is a really awesome theme that allows for so much customization, you click “Header” and then “Site Identity”. You then click “Select logo”, and big surprise; you select your logo.
After you have selected your logo, hit “Publish” and your logo is on your site, simple as that. The only thing left to do is build your brand out and make that logo iconic.
Build Your Brand
You have a great business, and to make it even better, you now have a visual representation of it. That is really awesome and I congratulate you greatly on your achievements thus far, and wish you the best in luck achieving your future goals.
Keep working hard, your business will strive soon enough, but you have to keep working, don’t stop. It may be hard now, but I promise you that if you put the work in now, it will pay off later.
