We have previously looked at the Samsung Chromebook 3 and the HP Stream 14, which are both great options for anyone looking to start an online business at a reasonable price.
If you haven’t already, Click here to read about the Samsung Chromebook 3 and Click Here to read about the HP Stream 14.
Though both are great options, there is one more budget laptop that I would like to throw in as a contender for the title of “Best Cheap Business Laptop”, that being the Dell Inspiron 3000.
Screen: 11.6-inch HD LED-Backlit Touchscreen (1366 x 768) Display.
Processor: 7th Gen AMD A6-9220e 2.5 GHz Processor (Boost up to 2.9 GHz).
RAM: 4GB DDR4 2400MHz Memory.
Graphics: Radeon R4 Graphics.
Storage: 32GB Solid State Drive.
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
Battery Life: ?
Weight: 3.22 lbs.
Dimensions: 11.48″ X 0.82″ X 7.95″.
For a $200 laptop, the performance this thing offers really isn’t all that bad.
Starting with the screen, it’s nothing big, only 11.6 inches, and the resolution is barely HD, but the fact that it had touch screen makes it pretty neat.
Not to mention the fact that it is a 2-in-1 tablet PC, which is really unheard of at this price.
Next, the CPU, which is pretty solid and will allow you to perform most basic business tasks, but if you plan to do heavy video editing, coding, or gaming, it may be best to look elsewhere, maybe at a higher price point.
A laptop that I would recommend would be the Dell XPS 13 9360, which is a very solid machine that will allow you to do nearly anything at a reasonably affordable price, Click Here to check it out!
The amount of RAM included is s modest 4 GB of DDR4 RAM, which is nothing special, but should be fine for normal use.
The GPU is also not that bad.
Yeah, it won’t allow you to play the latest games at a great resolution, but for light, low resolution gaming it should be just fine.
The storage space is about what you would expect at this price, 32 GB, but again, it is an SSD which is very appealing.
The operating system is Windows 10 Home, which is a great operating system to run a business on and is highly recommended, though not as good as macOS, but at this price Windows 10 simply cannot be beat.
Wasn’t able to get details on the battery lie, but I read some reviews and they all said it wasn’t good.
It is decently slim and relatively lightweight, making this a very easy to transport business machine.
I want to quickly mention that the keyboard is fairly comfortable and should be fine for long use.
Finally, the track pad.
It is what you would expect from a $200 track pad, nothing fantastic, but nothing too bad.
For maximum productivity it would be recommended to not use it.
Track pads really don’t hit that fantastic point until you hit that $1,000 range.
- 802.11bgn Wifi.
- Bluetooth 4.0.
- Micro-SD Media Card Reader.
- HD 720p Webcam.
- 1 x USB 3.0.
- 2 x USB 2.0.
- Full Size HDMI.
- 1 x Headphone/Microphone Combo Jack.
Laptops at this price point are lower in quality and require some accessories for efficiency.
Let’s start with the accessory that all laptops should have, a carrying case.
If you are doing any traveling at all with your laptop, you need a case to keep all those precious business files protected and secure.
The case I recommend is the Evecase Ultra-Portable Neoprene Carrying Sleeve, which is specifically made for this laptop and works great, supplying great protection at a great price.
There is also some front storage, which isn’t necessary, but is a nice touch and will allow you to carry around some smaller accessories.
Next up, probably the most promoted product on this site, the TeckNet Pro 2.4G Ergonomic Wireless Mobile Optical Mouse, which is an amazing product worth every cent.
A mouse is a necessity for a laptop like this, and for $10 you can get a really amazing one that will work wonders for your business, making your experience with this laptop a very comfortable one.
The amount of storage isn’t bad for the price, but if you plan on holding a lot of business files, you will definitely want to consider picking up an external hard drive.
There are plenty to choose from, but a very reliable and relatively cheap one would be the Toshiba Canvio Advance, which comes in many different sizes, but for $50 you can get 1 TB (1,000 GB).
What’s really cool about the previously mentioned accessories is that they will all fit inside your carrying case and will be relatively easy to transport.
This last accessory I like to throw in for fun, but in all seriousness, it can be extremely helpful and that is a monitor.
I know that you are probably thinking “That is dumb and will cost a fortune” and in response to that I say “That is an incorrect statement”.
First, the screen included, though it’s a decent size, it doesn’t look that good.
Considering this laptop has an HDMI port you might as well take advantage of it and plug in a nice monitor.
Second, you don’t have that much room with only one screen.
If you plan to work on your computer and get a lot done, then having 2 screens that will allow for multiple tabs to be displayed at once which will prove to be very efficient when working.
And when you want to go somewhere, you just unplug the HDMI port and throw the laptop in your bag.
Third, getting a solid monitor really isn’t that expensive.
The AOC i2367Fh 23-Inch IPS Frameless LED-Lit Monitor is a steal for under $150.
It is full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080), has built in speakers, 2 HDMI ports, and is available in varying sizes depending on your price range.
No HDMI cord included, but you can pick one up if you Click Here for about $10.
If you think about it, you can pick up this laptop with all these accessories for about $415, which will allow for double screen work and portability, which I find to be awesome.

+ Full Windows 10
+ 2-in-1 Tablet PC

+ Keyboard is pretty good
– Not the most powerful laptop, but certainly not bad for $200
– Poor Viewing Angles
– Short Battery Life
– No USB-C Ports
Overall, for around $200, this laptop is hard to beat.
If you are looking to start up your own business and don’t have that much money you can spend on the tools for doing so, this laptop is amazing.
No, it isn’t the most powerful thing on the market, but at this price point, it is definitely a solid piece of hardware.
Be sure to tune in next week, when we pin this laptop against the other 2 and see which one reigns superior.
