Best Cheap Business Laptops

Best Cheap Business Laptops

We have previously looked at 3 business laptops, all of which cost around $200.

If you have not done so already, be sure to check out those reviews:

Samsung Chromebook 3

HP Stream 14

Dell Inspiron 3000

For that price tag, you are getting a solid computer, capable of running your business smoothly.

But which one is the best?

Today our goal is to settle this dispute and figure out which one of these laptops can earn the title of “Best Cheap Business Laptop”.

We are going to be comparing their specs to determine which one comes out on top, starting with the screen.

Screen

Samsung Chromebook 3:

11.6 inch, 1366 x 768, 16:9 aspect ratio.  Barely makes the cut as HD, has awful viewing angles, but the brightness isn’t bad.

HP Stream 14:

14 inch, 1366 x 768.  Again, barely making the cut as HD, but has great brightness.  Though the screen is larger,  it has the same resolution as the rest, making it look worse.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

11.6 inch, 1366 x 768.  Same resolution as the other two, brightness is fine, but what you get here that you cannot find on any other laptop at this price range is a touchscreen.  A 2-in-1 tablet PC for around $200, pretty cool.

Winner: Dell Inspiron 3000

Processor

Samsung Chromebook 3:

Intel Dual Core Celeron Processor N3060, 1.6 GHz to 2.48 GHz.  Not fit to do heavy video editing, coding, or gaming, but for running a business, it is fine.

HP Stream 14:

Intel Celeron N3350 (1.1 GHz base frequency, up to 2.4 GHz burst frequency, 2 MB cache, 2 cores).  Same problems apply here.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

7th Gen AMD A6-9220e 2.5 GHz Processor (Boost up to 2.9 GHz).  Slightly more powerful than the rest, running at 2.9 GHz, rather than the comparing 2.4-2.5 GHz the competitors offer.

Winner: Dell Inspiron 3000

RAM

Samsung Chromebook 3:

You get 4 GB of DDR3 RAM.  8 GB is base amount for higher end laptops that cost quadruple the price, so getting 4 GB for $200 isn’t that bad.

HP Stream 14:

You get 4 GB of DDR3 RAM.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

You get 4 GB of DDR4 RAM.  DDR4 is slightly more powerful and faster than DDR3, making it superior.

Winner: Dell Inspiron 3000

Graphics

Samsung Chromebook 3:

Intel HD Graphics 400.  The graphics cards are where you can really start to see why the price is $200, it isn’t very good.

HP Stream 14:

Intel HD Graphics 400.  Same card as Samsung Chromebook 3

Dell Inspiron 3000:

Radeon R4 Graphics.  I did some research and every time I searched “Radeon R4 Graphics vs Intel HD Graphics 400” it continued to try to compare the Radeon R4 Graphics to the Intel HD Graphics 4000, so I am assuming that the Radeon R4 Graphics is more powerful.

Winner: Dell Inspiron 3000

Storage

Samsung Chromebook 3:

16 GB Flash Memory Solid State Drive.

HP Stream 14:

64GB Solid State Drive.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

32GB Solid State Drive.

Winner: HP Stream 14

Operating System

Samsung Chromebook 3:

Chrome OS.  Though not a bad operating system, if you are used to using Windows, it could be hard to get used to and be more beneficial to go with an operating system you are familiar with.

HP Stream 14:

Windows 10 Home.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

Winner: Tie between Dell Inspiron and HP Stream 14

Battery Life

Samsung Chromebook 3:

11 hours.

HP Stream 14:

7 hours.

Dell Inspiron 3000:

Wasn’t able to find the battery life, so for this round, the Dell Inspiron is disqualified, though some reviews stated that is wasn’t good.

Winner: Samsung Chromebook 3

Results

In 3rd place we have the Samsung Chromebook 3.

I am not saying it is a bad choice, far from that, but if you plan to run a business, you can get a much more powerful laptop and work on a operating system you are more familiar with at a similar price.

In 2nd we have…

The HP Stream 14.

It is a great option, but when being compared to number one, it is lacking a little in some areas.  The screen is a tad bigger, so if you want a bigger screen, this would be the better option.

Leaving number 1 to obviously be the Dell Inspiron 3000.

It is an amazing laptop and is way under priced, right now you can pick this bad boy up for only $223 on Amazon.com, which is absolutely insane and I highly recommend you do.

The choice is yours, but I have come to the conclusion that the Dell Inspiron 3000 is the best cheap business laptop.

Before You Go…

With these great laptops, you may find you need some accessories, so here are a couple you may want to consider.

Let’s first start with some basic laptop accessories, starting with a case.

Here are the cases I recommend for each of the laptops.

Samsung Chromebook 3

HP Stream 14

Dell Inspiron 3000

Considering the quality of this track pad, you will definitely need to pick up a mouse, especially if you plan to use this laptop for business.

I have recommended this mouse many times before and I will recommend it again.

Why do you think I would recommend it again?

Because the TeckNet Pro 2.4G Ergonomic Wireless Mobile Optical Mouse is an amazing mouse, with a combination of a very awesome look, battery life, speed, assortment of colors and $10 price tag.

The amount of storage isn’t bad for the price, but if you plan on holding a lot of business files, you will definitely want to consider picking up an external hard drive.

There are plenty to choose from, but a very reliable and relatively cheap one would be the Toshiba Canvio Advance, which comes in many different sizes, but for $50 you can get 1 TB (1,000 GB).

What’s really cool about the previously mentioned accessories is that they will all fit inside your carrying case and will be relatively easy to transport.

This last accessory I like to throw in for fun, but in all seriousness, it can be extremely helpful and that is a monitor.

I know that you are probably thinking “That is dumb and will cost a fortune” and in response to that I say “That is an incorrect statement”.

First, the screen included, though it’s a decent size, it doesn’t look that good.

Considering this laptop has an HDMI port you might as well take advantage of it and plug in a nice monitor.

Second, you don’t have that much room with only one screen.

If you plan to work on your computer and get a lot done, then having 2 screens that will allow for multiple tabs to be displayed at once which will prove to be very efficient when working.

And when you want to go somewhere, you just unplug the HDMI port and throw the laptop in your bag.

Third, getting a solid monitor really isn’t that expensive.

The AOC  i2367Fh 23-Inch IPS Frameless LED-Lit Monitor is a steal for under $150.

It is full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080), has built in speakers, 2 HDMI ports, and is available in varying sizes depending on your price range.

No HDMI cord included, but you can pick one up if you Click Here for about $10.

Essentially, you can pick up any of these laptops along with all these accessories for about $450, which will allow for double screen work and portability, which I find to be amazing.

The Choice Is Yours!

You know all there is to know about these laptops and I’ve said all I need.
